Brooks: Week 13-15

Brooks Ryan Batia is one week away from being 4 months old!!!! A lot has happened over the past three weeks. It is so amazing how much can change with a baby in such a short period of time!

Mark, Brooks and Abbie had a super fantastic holiday season! We did a ton of traveling over the past three weeks and we are all looking forward to staying put for a while. Our Christmas trip to Biloxi went really well. Brooks was our super trooper traveler. It was an 8 ½ hour + trip in the car and he really did well considering everything. We took our time, stopped every three hours or so to feed the baby and stretch our legs. It was an all day travel day but we made it safe and sound. Our visit with Mark’s family was great too. It was so much fun seeing everyone and introducing Brooks to his extended family. Brooks got to see his Pops and Uncle Rick again and to do our Christmas exchange…needless to say Brooks was super spoiled! Thanks guys…you were both too generous! While we were there Brooks got to briefly meet his “cousin” Nora. She is about a month and a half older than Brooks but boy did he “tower” over her…she is a tiny little thing and it made our boy look like a brute!
The trip home was good too. Brooks really took to being in the car…he really enjoyed all of those long naps…and so did his mommy and daddy!

We spend Christmas day here in Orlando. We took Brooks to church Christmas Eve and then we drove over to my mom’s for a nice dinner. We all (Mark, Brooks, Becky, Troy and I) stayed the night at my mom’s and did Christmas morning there. We must have all been really good this past year because Santa unloaded at our house! Brooks got all sorts of toys, books, clothes and even a Baby Einstein Activity Center! He loves it!
His Uncle Troy taught him how to play with all the different toys…too cute!
After breakfast we drove over to see Mark’s mom and Lyn and Tom who were both in town. We had a fantastic dinner together and a really fun Christmas exchange. Brooks again racked up big time. This time he got all sorts of fun things in his stocking, clothes, a cool play-n-learn puppy, a hand made piggy bank from his Aunt Lyn, and he even got a big box of diapers! Santa really knew what WE needed!

The following day we all drove up to Perry to visit my family for Christmas (I told you we were some traveling fools!) We had a great time with all the kids and family. Brooks got to see his “Aunt” Heather and “Uncle” Jon and he can’t wait to meet his future playmate! March is just around the corner and we are all so excited for baby Michelini to arrive! Brooks enjoyed his time in Perry with all of his cousins and seeing his Pop-Pop. His cousin Julie Ann gave him a very special Christmas present this year…his very first fishing rod and real! Mark was SO excited!

The following Monday after Christmas we moved next door…literally! We out grew our one bedroom condo and so we decided to rent out our place and lease the 2-2 next door to us. It was the best decision that we’ve made in a while! We just love having the extra room and it is so exciting that Brooks finally has his own room! Yay!
On New Years Eve we drove down to Fort Myers to visit with the Alex and Andrea Hart…they recently made the move down south so we all decided to ring in the New Year at their place. The Jones’ came too and it was a house full of fun! 6 adults and 4 kids…the fun never stopped! On New Years Day we all went to the beach to enjoy a typical Florida day…80+ degrees and beautiful! It was Brooks’ first trip to the beach and he enjoyed it so much that he passed out for most of the visit! It is so much fun making so many memories together!

So this week we are back home and enjoying some fun out-of-town company. Brad and Haley are here for the week and we have all enjoyed spending time together with Brooks. He is such a great baby and he really is enjoyable to be around. Mark is heading to Miami today to watch the Gators clench the national title…I am SO jealous that I do not get to go! Maybe next time…but not to worry, I’ll be here in Orlando having fun with Brooks, Brad and Haley! We are planning on visiting Disney tomorrow and the beach on Saturday…it is suppose to be another gorgeous day!

One of Brooks’ recent mile stones is he weighs well over 16 pounds now! My dad is still amazed that Brooks solely breastfeeds…he swears that I must be supplementing him because he is so “healthy” as he puts it! He loves to sit up in his activity center and play with all the toys…I still can’t believe that he can make them work already! He is so much more aware of his surroundings now and loves to look out and see the world. He is starting to reach for things like my watch and necklace…it is so cute to see him muster up the strength and will power to make his arms and hands work! You can tell he really has to concentrate hard on it! He is a lot more vocal now too. He will “talk” and tell you a story and if you are not paying attention watch out! He will “fuss” until you look at him and then he just grins from ear to ear…he isn’t spoiled at all! One of his big accomplishments was he actually put his passy back into him mouth by himself yesterday for the first time!!!! Yay!!!! He’s not done it since but I am sure he will have it down pat soon! He is so smart and quick that Mark swears he will be walking and talking soon! Ha! No need to rush it, right?
