Brooks: Week 16-17

Brooks is now officially four months old! I swear that was the fastest four months of my life! A lot has happened with Brooks over the past two week. We have been VERY busy and on the go and it doesn’t look like things will be slowing down any time soon.

Brooks went to the pediatrician last Monday for his four month visit. Brooks now weighs 16.4 pounds and is 25 ¾ inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for both height and weight and in the 50th percentile for head circumference. The doctor told us (after calculating some special math formula that is suppose to be 95% accurate) that Brooks will be somewhere between 5’11’’ and 6’1’’ when he is fully grown! Wow! That is amazing!!! Mark is thrilled! He was such a good boy until it came time for his shots…poor little lamb. He had to get four more vaccines (two injections in each leg) and he was not happy about the first two and REALLY not happy about the second two. He did calm down pretty quickly afterwards so that made US feel better. After our visit Brooks slept and slept and slept. He took two 3 hour naps in a row…bless his little heart.

One of the many milestones for Brooks is he is starting to grab his feet and pull them up towards his mouth. It is so cute to watch him do this…he just grunts and groans and turns bright red in the face…I guess it is a big ab workout for the little guy! He is also rolling back and forth and side to side…still no big “rolling over” events yet but it is getting close! He loves to lie on his back and grab his toes and roll all around…especially if the TV is on and he can see it…too funny! He is not really into his tummy time yet…he gets really frustrated and usually ends up spitting up a lot...hopefully that will get better.
He loves to reach and grab at different toys. He loves his rings because they are easy to hold onto and he can get them to his mouth easily…it is so cute to see the expression on his face when he finally musters up the strength and is able to grab onto something…pure amazement and joy!

Per the pediatrician’s advice we started Brooks on rice cereal this past week. He LOVES it! It is practically rice cereal soup that he is learning to eat off a spoon…cute but VERY messy! He gets his cereal right before bedtime and then he tops off at “mom’s diner”. Then it is off to bed around 9pm. I am not sure but we think he might be teething because for the past two weeks or so it has been hit or miss with him sleeping through the night. At first I thought it was a growth spurt but now that we’ve started the cereal before bed and he is still waking up to eat at 3-4am, I think it might be something else…what a mystery! I would love it if he could just tell me what was going on…life would be much more simple! Oh well, this to will pass.

Brooks was such a big boy on Sunday and went to the Church nursery all by himself! Yay for a brave mommy and daddy! He was super good and when I went to pick him up he was in a bouncy chair reaching and playing with the toys that were attached…so sweet! All of these simple things make for big changes in our lives. He is growing up SO fast and all of these day to day changes seems to blur together…I am so glad that I am able to document them all in this blog and share them with you all…yay for technology!
