Brooks Week 9

Can you believe that Brooks is 9 weeks old already? Looking back at the past few blog postings it is amazing to see how much he has grown! It seems like forever ago we were going to the hospital to have him but at the same time it seems just like yesterday that we brought him home. It is strange how time flies and stands still all at the same time.

We had a very busy past few days. Last week was a whirlwind! Brooks recovered nicely from his shots episode. Poor little guy slept all day Monday and he even got up in the middle of the night for an extra feeding…I think his nights and days were mix up after sleeping so much. Tuesday he was back to normal. On Friday we drove up to Gainesville for the weekend. Brooks was a super trooper in the car even though our trip ended up taking a LOT longer than normal because someone forgot their test kit at home and we had to turn around to go back and get it…we won’t mention names or point fingers!

We had a great time this weekend catching up with friends and just hanging out. It was also very busy with all the prep work for Brooks’ big baptism party. It turned out great though…all the hard work and effort was worth it! Sunday morning was quite a challenge. Church started at 9 o’clock and that is early for us! I had to get up really early so that I could shower and get ready that way I could take care of Brooks’ normal morning routine once he woke up. It was a circus around the house but we were doing great until Mark realized that he forgot his dress shoes in Orlando. Unfortunately, Alex (who we were staying with) wears a size 13 shoe and so we had to think quick and call a neighbor to borrow his shoes! We were a little late getting out the door but we made it to church on time for the baptism. We had so many friends and family there to help us celebrate…it was GREAT! Brooks was a champ and didn’t make a peep until they poured the cold water on his head and then it was only a little bit of whining…we stuck in the pacifier and it was all good! He looked beautiful in his christening gown that my mom made…it was gorgeous! It was all white on white embroidery and smocking…it even has his name and the date embroidered on the skirt…so special and sweet. The great thing about the outfit is the gown (skirt) unbuttons from the little bubble outfit below and when we have more babies they will be able to wear the same gown at their baptisms. Now that is cool!

The party afterwards at Alex and Andrea’s house was so much fun. It was such a beautiful day and we were all able to hang out and eat outside and just enjoy the wonderful weather. It was so much fun to see so many loved ones and for them to meet and enjoy Brooks. He was such a great baby the entire weekend…he was able to stick to his normal schedule and was not fussy at all. I think he liked that we were celebrating him!

A few weeks ago we were able to dedicated Brooks to our new church here in Orlando. It was a spur of the moment decision but we are really glad we did. Here are a few pictures from that special day. Brooks is now doubly blessed!

And after such a super busy and crazy weekend, Brooks was pooped when we got home last night…poor little guy slept for 3 hours straight on the way home! How precious is this picture???
