Happy 2nd Birthday Brooks!

Sorry for the delay in posting all the fun happenings from Brooks' 2nd birthday. This year Brooks' birthday fell on a Sunday so we decided to have his party the day before. We had big plans to have all his friends get together at the Winter Park splash pad to play in the fountains and eat lots of yummy cupcakes BUT three days before the party we discovered (thanks to Natalie!) that the splash pad was closed because of mechanical issues. We had a quick change of plans and venue and decided to move the party to one of the community pools in Baldwin Park (thanks to the Wollitzs!) It was a huge success and the kids never knew the difference!

Here are a ton of pictures from our fun day in the sun helping Brooks ring in his second year!

We had lots of snacks and cupcakes for all the kids and parents...Brooks' favorite by far were the sno-cones!!!! I swear he must have had at least 8...I stopped counting after 5! They were a big hit and the fun lasted for the following two days too! We had sno-cones coming out our ears but B didn't seem to mind!

Here's the birthday boy getting ready to blog out his #2 candle...the cupcakes were a big hit too...I had to limit myself to eating only TWO!!!

All the family that was able to make it...Brooks loved having his GJ (Mark's mom), PG (my mom) and PopPop (my dad) there!

Brooks and Andrew enjoying the pool...the water was a little chilly but it didn't seem to phase the kids! :)

Brooks posting up at his favorite spot...the cooler with all the sno-cone ice!!!!

Brooks really racked up this year on the gifts...he got too many actually!!! He really enjoyed opening his presents and every time a new one showed up he would exclaim "Oh BOY!!!!" It was too funny! Here are some pics of two of the bigger items he received (ps...we are running out of room in our house for all the fun boy toys!!!) The first is a digger that he can actually ride and a hard hat...he LOVES it! The second is a complete kitchen set from IKEA...we set it up in our breakfast nook so that he can cook while I am in the kitchen cooking...great idea!!! He loves all his pots and pan and all the fun fake food he received for his birthday (thanks Andrew!) He's getting really good at cooking a few specialties like soup (which is "very hot!"), cupcakes, and the new one this week is pancakes which he likes to try and flip in the pan! His playing is becoming so imaginative and I love it!

On B's actual birthday we took a picnic dinner to Central Park in Winter Park. PG and the Wollitzs joined us in a very casual celebration. It was BEAUTIFUL weather and so nice and breezy. We had a really fun time letting the kids just run around and play and snacking on fun picnic food like Doritos and fruit!

And of course it wouldn't have been a complete birthday without singing and cupcakes! We ALL enjoyed a cupcake (or 2 or 3!) and from the pictures you can see that they were really yummy!!!

It's so hard to believe that Brooks is already a two year old and that in two short months we will be adding another member to our little family. Time certainly is flying by but I am so glad that we have been able to slow down long enough to enjoy all the special times like birthdays and friends and family. It's what makes life SO sweet!
