Brooks: Week 37-38

The past two weeks have FLOWN by! We have been super busy (as usual) with lots of company and traveling…the fun never ends! Brooks has hung in there with us…enjoying the ride all the way!

We will start with a visit from Mark’s dad (Brooks’ Pops). He came to see us for the weekend after Father’s Day. We had a nice time together…it was kind of a “do nothing” weekend but that was ok with us all. Brooks had a great time “chillin” out with Pops. We all went to the park on Saturday morning and Brooks just loved swinging and playing around. He is such an outdoors type of kid!

We also got to visit with Mark’s mom that weekend and she had a special surprise for Brooks! A “Mini” replica toy car of her Mini Cooper! It is even red just like hers! Brooks loves it to say the least and he’s even taken his friend Ella for a ride on it! Thanks GJ!

We’ve been taking advantage of the heat this summer and going to the pool as much as possible. Brooks finally got a float of his own and he just loves splashing around the pool. I have to agree with my mom…we think he has to be part fish! He actually cries when it is time to get out and get dried off…poor little guy!

This past weekend Mark and I took an impromptu trip to Savannah with our friends Chris, Nyrla, and Ella for the 4th of July. We had such a great time! It was really hot and humid but we had fun just the same. We did a lot of walking and just hanging out…that is what happens when you travel with two 8-9 month olds! We ate a lot of good food and had a really great time…even though we missed the fireworks due to early bedtimes! My mom made the most adorable 4th of July outfits for Brooks and Ella…they were both SO in style…Savannah Southern Style! I can’t tell you how many times we were asked if they were twins! They were so cute that we took the time and had a photo shoot in Forsythe Park…they babies were perfect and too cute for words! But by the end I think that Brooks had enough…take a look at his face in the very last picture!

Princess Ella was napping again...nothing like being carted around in your stroller...avoiding the bumps on River Street so she wouldn't wake up!

Seriously...I don't think he could have stood one more picture or another crazy sound from mommy trying to make him smile!

So what is Brooks up to besides traveling and visiting his grandparents? Well his top two teeth have finally popped through last week and they are sight to see! I finally got a few good shots of them but really how could you miss them…they are quite large but oh so cute!

He is still pulling up on everything and I tell you what…he has NO fear! He is experimenting with letting go and standing on his own…so crazy! He is also falling down a lot to say the least. He is all boy so what can I say! Along with all those falls have come quite a few bumps and bruises…and even a busted lip…so sad! Good thing he is resilient and tough! He is also eating up a storm! He loves anything…especially food that I am eating. He is so adventurous and wants to try everything I put in my mouth. Every morning Brooks and I share a bowl of cereal together! He is crawling all over the place these days…there is no place too small! He also has an amazing knack for finding the itty bittyist speck of “you fill in the blank” on the floor and putting it in his mouth…who knows what that child has consumed! It has made me vacuum a few extra times a week that is for sure!

Brooks is such a joy to be around...it is a pure joy to watch him grow and discover new things everyday!

He will always find the tightest little places to play and hide! He disappeared the other day and I found him reading books behind the glider in his room!

And don't you know that the box that the toy comes in is WAY more fun to play with than the actual toy! I've also discovered that empty oatmeal cans and Crystal Lite canisters make great toys too!
