Brooks Week 31

Brooks is just a week away from being eight months old…that is mind blowing! I was just looking back at his newborn pictures today and boy has be come a long way in 7 months and 3 weeks! According to the scale at Publix he now weighs 23 pounds! My arms can attest to that…there is no need for me to lift weights…Brooks is all it takes for me to keep my arms nice and “buff” these days! He is getting so big so fast…it is hard to believe but some of his 12 month clothes are already too small! I am now buying him 12-18 months!!!! Whoa! This picture give a whole new meaning to "dump truck"!
We had a great week last week. It started off with a “sewing” day that would have made Martha proud. My friend Natalie and her little boy Tyson came over to my mom’s where we attempted a few different projects but accomplished little…ahhhh…the life of moms with babies! We even tried corralling the boys in the pack-n-play but that lasted all of 10 minutes! Oh well, we both get an “A” for effort!
On Wednesday morning Brooks and I took an impromptu trip down to Fort Myers to visit with Andrea and Brady Hart. Audrey and her two kids, Ashton and Gavin, drove down the day before so needless to say it was a house full of fun! Brooks LOVED all the “big kids” and he was fascinated with all the action…and let me tell you there was plenty to go around! It was a ton of fun for me too…I just love hanging out with the girls and all having all the the kid-os around made it that much more fun. On Thursday we packed everyone up in the van…that was 4 car-seats total…and went over to Captiva Island. It was a gorgeous day and the water was so calm and warm. Brooks loved swimming and was such a super trooper…all the kids were. They all just played and played and played…and on the ride home they ALL passed out! When we got home it was fun with sidewalk chalk…Andrea and Alex’s driveway was a beautiful work of art when we were all finished! Our trip was so much fun but way too short. Friday we headed back home to Orlando…the whole whirlwind trip was perfect except that Brooks had a cold. Poor little guy was all stuffed up and had a runny nose the entire time but let me tell you it didn’t slow him down one bit!
So Brooks is still not crawling…he gets so frustrated with himself and acts like he wants to give up. He is not enticed with things like toys, tv remotes, food, etc…he doesn’t really try and go after much so thus he doesn’t crawl! I think he needs to be “motivated”…any suggestions? One of Brooks’ discoveries this week is the TV. I have it on periodically throughout the day but never thought he was interested. He is so funny…he will be sitting on the floor playing with toys and all of a sudden he will zone in on the TV…good thing I just watch TLC, Food Network and Oprah! I turned on Sesame Street for him yesterday and he LOVED it…he was giggling and laughing…so cute! Here is a picture of him watch Oprah on Monday…he was fascinated with Simon Cowell (go figure!) and all the folks on the show. He just giggled and kicked his feet…too funny! He is only 7 months old but I am already going to have to “limit” his TV time! Ha!
Brooks is quite the eater these days. Here is a list of some of things that he has tried and liked lately. Apples, pears (his favorite!), peaches, sweet potatoes (second favorite), yellow squash, carrots, bananas (especially frozen and in a little mesh baggy thing that he can suck on) , oatmeal, avocado, egg yellows, and yogurt (not plain but the fruit flavors)! Whew…that boy is an eating machine! The only thing that he’s eaten so far and has definitely NOT liked besides the infamous rice cereal, are green peas. I’ve tried them three times and each time it is the same thing…a yucky face and out come the peas! Here are a few cute picks of Brooks enjoying some oatmeal…on his nose…and sweet potatoes…every where else!

He is getting so big...he's bigger than Ryan now!! Ryan is such a peanut anyway...lol! Brooks is such a cutie. I am so glad you're enjoying him so much. Don't be in a hurry for the crawling. Once he figures it out, there's no going back. :-)
