Brooks: Week 30

Brooks had a really busy week last week even though we actually “took it easy” and didn’t go anywhere! We had a great time just hanging out at home, going to the pool, baking cookies, trying to learn to crawl and picking out a new “big boy” car-seat! So many fun things in such a short amount of time!

With all of this warm weather, both momma and Brooks were dying to get out to the pool. Our pool here at the condo is still a tad bit chilly so I came up with a brilliant idea to take Brooks’ ducky bathtub poolside. A couple inches of water and a few bath toys and we were set for some fun in the sun! Brooks LOVES the water…he would stay in longer if I would let him but because of his super fair skin and the fact that his fingers and toes looked like raisins we had to call it a day. We are both looking forward to many hot summer days by the pool!

Brooks got his first lesson at the Batia Baking Academy last week. We started off with some basic chocolate chip cookies and then we moved on to the more advanced toffee oatmeal cookies. He was such a great little student and I told him the first rule to baking is that he can’t share the secret family recipes…good thing he can’t talk yet!

He loved playing with the empty chocolate chip bag and plastic mixing bowls…I think it was his favorite part of cooking school!
For the sake of mommy’s figure we decided to send the products of our hard work and labor to daddy’s office. All the folks at Turner loved them…it was all the extra sugar that Brooks added!

Brooks is really trying to reach his next milestones at the speed of light! I tell him everyday that he needs to slow down cause mommy can’t keep up! He is tries to hold his sippy cup all by himself and he just loves to chew on the spout…I think it feels good on his teeth…that is right TEETH!!!! He just cut his second tooth this past Friday! It is right next to his bottom tooth he cut last week so now he has both his left and right bottom teeth…so CUTE! He just loves to smile and show them off (when you don’t have the camera ready or you aren’t looking!) Little turkey! I will get those little suckers on film one of these days!

Brooks is also giving crawling the old college try. He is working so hard and gets so frustrated with it…too funny! I caught a little of his efforts on video and he is so cute.

Lately he will just give it up and roll to whatever he wants. He is getting pretty good at that but he still just does this swimming action when he gets on his belly. He has really great form so who knows…he might just be the next Michael Phelps!

But don’t worry I am not too anxious for him to crawl too soon. We had our friends the Fulmer’s over for dinner Saturday night and their little boy Tyson is into everything!!!! He is a crawling champ and he is pulling up on whatever he can get his hands on! Whew…I don’t know how Natalie does it!!!! The scary part is Tyson is only two weeks older than Brooks…I can see the writing on the wall!

Brooks is getting so big now that we had to go ahead and buy him his “big boy” car-seat. He just loves it! He still has to face backwards because of his age and weight but he just loves it that he can see out the window better and has so much more room. He just happily kicks his feet and doesn’t put up half the fight he used to when we put him in his seat. He is now crusin’ in style and loving it!

Even though we had a quiet week “in” we did make it out to visit with a couple of friends and we even made it to a baby shower! Here is Brooks with his “little girl friend” Ella…he is such a lady killer!
We had a great time celebrating the eminent arrival of baby Adita Bazin with our friend Nick and Ada. Brooks just loved all the attention and loving he received from Ada’s family. He can’t wait to meet little Adita…another girl for him to woo!

Mark and I feel so blessed to have this little boy in our lives. He is so precious and so sweet and we are amazed that he is ours. We thank the Lord everyday for His perfect gift!
